Drink More Water! →
No, really. It might not transform you into a floating, mother-of-pearl goddess, but really. It’s good for you! Think no more dry skin, mouth, or lips, better smelling BO, glowing skin, less hunger, more energy, and better digestion. For reals.

The 3 year old twins I nanny make my heart glad. Thing1 is definitely a girly girl and she also loves super-hero underpants. Thing2 is a sweet, energetic boy who loves to take things apart. He also loves to dance and twirl with his sister. So he wears dresses sometimes.
The fact that his parents are totally cool with that is so great. Our culture forces children into such strict gender roles....

I am eating processed lunch meat <ew, gross. wait, is that some “fire roasted” turkey in the fridge?
I am watching movies with titles like “i am a cyborg but that’s ok” and korean teen soaps on hulu because these things make me think “i am not a cyborg and that’s perfectly fine too” and “at least my drama doesn’t repeat itself every...

Day 7: Something You Really Want To Learn
ALL OF THE THINGS. But on my short term goal list is the Big Apple, and some new footwork. And some sweet solo charleston moves. And more Balboa. And some hot chase sequences. Like I said, ALL OF THE THINGS.

Day 6: Favorite Group Dance
This is hard! I LOVE group dances, especially when they spontaneously happen on the social dance floor and all the newbies’ jaws drop. I think this may be related to my not so secret wish that my life were a musical and that people spontaneously breaking out into choreographed song and dance were a regular thing. I only know the shim sham, the tranky doo, and the first half of the...
Day 5: Favorite Lindy Hop Variation Dance
Right now, I would have to say Balboa. I just learned and I love the formal contrast to Lindy Hop. It’s also helped me stop staring at my partners feet while dancing.

Days 3,4: A description of your favorite partner...
I fell off the wagon (after day 2…wow.) So here’s a double whammy to get back on track.
Favorite Partner. HOW DO I PICK ONE? There are several people I love, love, love to dance with, and that is mostly based on my connection with them. They know my abilities and even if they are a hundred times better then me, or have less experience, we always have a blast. They lead moves I never...

Winter Soup #1
Borscht! Or, in this case, a soup that is Borscht’s distant vegetarian cousin. My housemate continues to bring back boxes of incredible produce from the farm he works at and it;s been building up in the kitchen- abundance! I wanted to make some soup today, and there were some beets and an insanely large cabbage, as well as some sour cream in the fridge. So, I’m listening to the...

Day 2: Your favorite place to dance
Century Ballroom in Seattle comes in first, closely followed by the 9:20 Special in San Francisco, and as always, the great outdoors.

Day 1: What got you started in Lindy Hop
Ballroom was boring. My friend taught me east coast and took me to the Century Ballroom in Seattle. I stood in the lindy corner with my mouth hanging open like a cod fish. Hook, Line, Sinker.

Notes of a Lindy Hopper: 30 Day Lindy Hop... →
swingitout:
I haven’t seen one of these made for Lindy Hop so I figured I would make one. Feel free to reblog and do the challenge yourself. In fact, I encourage it. If you fill it out, please link me to your posts. I’d really like to get to know all of you guys as lindy hoppers! Day 1: What got you started…
